Maerwen and Legolas
Maerwen sat quietly in the small grassy field in Rivendell made just for her and
her friends. Today, it was Legolas, the princeling from Mirkwood.
He was sat right next to her, looking up at the ever passing cumulus clouds and
wispy cirrus clouds. "Maerwen?" He called.
"How do clouds work?"
Maerwen was somewhat puzzled by this question. She scrunched up her face, trying
to come up with a reasonable answer.
"Well let's see..." She began, looking up at the clouds as well.
"I think, they are made by feathers that float too far away to come back down,
and they bunch up all together and make a cloud." Maerwen replied using hand
motions with her description.
"Then how would you explain rainclouds?" Legolas then asked.
"The bunched up feathers get wet? I don't know..."
Legolas laughed. Maerwen could be so funny at times. And other times, she could
be quite serious, even at such a young age.
"What should we do today, Legolas?" She

Legolas and Thranduil
Legolas slowly walked up to his silent sobbing father, who was sitting on his
fancy wooden chair by his desk. Just a few feet away from him, Legolas curiously
looked upon the king of Greenwood. Tears would plop onto his lap, and roll down
the fabric of his robe, and land on the floor, leaving a small puddle of tears
at his feet.
"Ada?" Legolas spoke softly. When his father did not respond, he walked closer
to his father and tugged on his robe, "Ada, what's wrong... Where's nana?"
Thranduil looked down to where Legolas was standing, his big blue eyes staring
"Legolas..." Thranduil bent down and pulled his son onto his lap and hugged
him. Legolas wrapped his small hands(short arms?) around his fathers waist as
best he could, still looking up at him.
"Legolas....", his father began, "I-" Thranduil sighed, filled with such greif.
"I'm afraid nana is gone..."
